‘Barbara Allen’ is the new single from Northumbrian electro-folk artist Frankie Archer. Her production style is truly otherworldly, with a blend of both analogue and digital synths warmly underpinning pitch-shifted vocals, swinging drums and a harsh, distorted fiddle. Musically, it perfectly matches her lyrical re-telling of the old folk tale of Barbara Allen. Frankie Archer has revealed her new EP, Pressure and Persuasion. It is due to release on October 4th, 2024, just before her solo headline tour. She says: “These stories tell of girlhood and womanhood. Pressures to behave, to speak, to look a certain way. To be attractive but not try too hard. To be chatty but not too opinionated.
